UMHB celebrated its annual Family Weekend on the weekend of Sept.13-14, with students and their families coming together to celebrate on campus.
Friday kicked off the weekend with a Student Life hangout and museum tours, where families could enjoy sweet treats on King Street and get a preview of upcoming events, and tour the Museum at the Alumni Center to learn more about UMHB’s history. Seniors and their families then celebrated the UMHB Ring Ceremony as this year’s graduating class received their Class Rings. After the ceremony, students and their families finished off the night with a Family Fun Feast, where attendees were able to enjoy food trucks, inflatables, a family pickleball tournament, lawn games and more.
The Cru families then spent Saturday morning at a family worship, before enjoying a day of meeting faculty, exploring residence halls, and enjoying a Cru market on King Street before culminating the weekend at the Crusader Football Home Opener, where the Crusaders ended an amazing weekend with an emphatic 85-6 victory over Westgate Christian University.
Freshman Emilee Jenkins spoke fondly of her first Family Weekend at UMHB. “I enjoyed getting to spend time with my family and showing them around campus. I got to show them what I do and where I take my classes. I also got to show them some of UMHB’s traditions at the football game” she said.
Emilee’s mother, Carrie Jenkins, also had high regards for Family Weekend. “I loved getting to see my daughter in her college environment, and a blessing to see her thriving in her new home.”
Dean of Student Leadership and Engagement Mike McCarthy, who oversees the office responsible for Family Weekend also spoke on the festivities; “I love talking to students and families excited to participate in all the amazing events and traditions of the weekend.”
